HELLO AGAIN I'M BACK WITH A NEW PROJECT

I can finally cross it off my list for this one, because I did an Art Journal! Initially, I wanted to do a Dream Journal because I've been getting weird and very interesting dreams lately and I wanted to record them down. But whilst getting prep up for my Dream Journal, it was more of an artsy craft, so I turned it into an Art Journal instead. No regrets!

What I like about an Art Journal is that there is only one rule. The NO BOUNDARIES rule. Basically, it's an Art Journal. Art is whatever inspires you. This art journal holds all your ideas. This art journal captures your mind because of this one rule, what you think is what you get. The result is pure and free and unscripted which I think is the best art.

I kinda forgot to take a picture of the 'before' and only started on the during. However, here's a little tutorial while I blog about the making:

The first thing I did was take an old book. This book was probably >5 years old! It was my girl scouts book. Go ahead, sue me for ruining and tearing out pages of Girl Scout honors and songs. :( It was old, rugged pages, it was what I needed! I love rough-looking books. I didn't tear most of the pages though, I took rough paper and paste them on with a little glue and it totally gives it a new look! Also, what I love about that is it'll show faded Girl Scout notes which I must say is pretty cool and nostalgic. I pasted the paper abiding by no rules. Just have fun with it!

You can really create anything you want in this book. It is an art journal. Go crazy. I grabbed some paint and a brush and just mixed colors with colors; without thinking, I just slapped them on the papers and follow what's on my mind, where to color, what to color, anything. It came out good but it was a mess haha! I love this no boundary rule. These painted ones acts as a base/background for any of my journal entries later on in the future. Just grab whatever you have. Paint, masking tape, washi tape, colored markers, fabric (yes, you may), flower petals, cut-out magazines, anything!

Now that some of the pages are done, the problem is the god-awful pink cover of my book. It's so ugly and nowhere near Art Journal material in my eyes. So I bought black sturdy paper and cover that shit up! Lol. I had this idea from my previous blog layout that I made. So I cut out the words "Mon Journal D'art" (mon·jer·nell·darh) for the front cover, which basically means "My Art Journal" in French. And I couldn't leave that god-awful pink to lie there and peak through the holes once the letters are cut-out, so instead of the typical colored paper, I slapped on mix colors. I gotta admit, the first one was horrible so second attempt was much better!

#1 — Slap that glue on! I'd advise to start pasting the back of your book first. And do keep measuring to see if the creased part of the paper fits your book! #2 — Take a heavy textbook to flatten your work because even some sturdy paper (like mine) tend to wrinkle in contact with glue and I use PVA.

Voilà! Je te présente mon journal d'art :)
